Terry Douglas Biography
Raised
in The Bronx, New York, I attended Fordham Prep and the University from which
I earned a Masters Degree in Russian Studies, and a Bachelor’s Degree in
English Literature. At the height of the Cold War I served in the United
States Air Force before joining the Central Intelligence Agency. As an operations
officer I was “targeted” to collect intelligence on hostile intentions of
the Soviet-Bloc and an emerging terrorist threat in such far ranging postings
as Warsaw, New Delhi, Beirut, and Berlin. In the early 1980’s I was engaged
in strategic contingency planning at the Department of Defense.
Background
In the private sector, I headed up a management consulting firm that was active in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War providing to the Saudi Ministry of Defense security training, dignitary protection, and the design and construction of training facilities.
Later, I created my own modest enterprise that served US clients seeking to conduct business with legitimate partners abroad. In that time period, I traveled throughout South and East Asia. In 2000, I was appointed the academic chair for Intelligence Studies at a university, and most recently journeyed to Afghanistan to assist the fledgling democracy meet the external and internal threats it faces.
Whose voice i hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
Hear me! I am small and weak, i need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears, sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that i may understand the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
